You will really enjoy the well running MGB classic

The 1977 MG MGB is a classic British sports car manufactured by MG (Morris Garages). It's part of the MGB series, which was produced from 1962 to 1980. The 1977 model has some unique features and characteristics, reflecting the changes made during its production run. Here's an overview:

General Information:

  • Body Style: 2-door roadster or 2-door GT coupe

  • Engine: 1.8L inline-4 (1798 cc)

  • Power Output: Approximately 62-65 horsepower (due to U.S. emissions regulations)

  • Transmission: 4-speed manual; optional overdrive available

  • Drive Layout: Rear-wheel drive (RWD)

Key Features:

  1. Rubber Bumpers:

    • Starting in 1974.5, U.S.-spec MGBs were fitted with black rubber bumpers to meet federal safety standards. The 1977 model continued this design.

    • These bumpers raised the ride height slightly, altering the car's handling characteristics.

  2. Engine Changes:

    • By 1977, the engine had been detuned compared to earlier models to comply with U.S. emissions regulations, resulting in reduced horsepower.

    • Equipped with a single Zenith-Stromberg carburetor instead of twin SU carburetors.

  3. Interior:

    • The interior featured vinyl seats, though optional leather was available.

    • A simplified dashboard design with rocker switches (introduced in 1977) for a more modern appearance.

  4. Handling and Suspension:

    • Front suspension: Independent with coil springs and lever arm shocks.

    • Rear suspension: Semi-elliptic leaf springs with lever arm shocks.

  5. Braking System:

    • Disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear provided stopping power.

  6. Wheels and Tires:

    • Standard steel wheels with optional wire wheels or Rostyle wheels.

Performance:

  • Top Speed: Around 90-100 mph (depending on condition and modifications)

  • 0-60 mph: Approximately 14-16 seconds

  • The MGB was more of a sporty tourer than an outright performance car, known for its fun driving dynamics and cornering capabilities.

Popularity and Legacy:

The MGB is celebrated for its timeless design, ease of maintenance, and strong enthusiast community. While the 1977 model isn't as powerful as earlier versions, it's still a beloved example of classic British motoring.
